There are no more words

Perhaps again,

but probably not soon.

A relationship of extremes

Friday June 8, 2007

Sometimes I really despise the internet. None of it is real– Another illusion to keep us from any other illusion, although, we feel, this new one is our own and as such we hold the power to make it what we want. But we don’t, and never have… as with all the rest.

Words of life bounce back and forth, meaning lost in modems and routers and miles and miles of cable. Emotion boiled down to sentence fragments to which we cheer and applaud. What then when the hollow preach of substance? What meaning can you strip from nothing? What comes out then? More cheering, it seems.

Welcome my MTV friends, it is a new era of exactly the same shit as always. Welcome to appealing to the lowest common denominator, and that number is so high that we’ve all lost count of what it means to be a fraction, let alone a one. Welcome to a time of zeros, countless zeros that can never add back up, the bottom has fell much too far.

But I know it to be true that there are non-zeros. There must be. Someone must be of substance. Some old soul must shake his head when we laugh with decay, when we celebrate our idiocy. I like to think that I could be at least a fraction, that perhaps there is at least uniqueness in my number.

Maybe all the ones look on me as I look on all the zeros; and they breathe deep and sigh and wonder how all these fractions don’t know how to be ones. Or maybe I am a one, or maybe the only one, or maybe this is all fantasy. Any way of it, the internet didn’t kiss me to sleep last night.

Here’s the game plan

Monday June 4, 2007

I’ve made a new blog that will be solely for poetry (and short stories too when that strikes me). It is called resplendence. If you are here for the poems and stories then head over there and subscribe. I’ll be adding some new poems there tonight or tomorrow morning at the latest.

This blog will remain and contain whatever the hell it was that I wrote that wasn’t poetry. What it came down to was that I wanted to rename the poetry aspect, but wanted to keep my life the experiment for the non-creative. It felt easier to make the new blog the poetry one.

Another idea I’m entertaining is yet another blog for Alien Thoughts, but I really need to get my muse back on that one.

Hungry like the Rich Text Editor

Sunday June 3, 2007

See this indent right here. Took me all weekend to figure out to space that out. Thanks WordPress for making it easy.

In case you’re curious yourself and don’t want to waste time on the forums, what you have to do is disable the Rich Text Editor (Dashboard, My Profile in the upper right, and uncheck the box). It seems the RTE just eats any type of extra spacing because it’s a hungry little pirate hooker. Here I was thinking I needed to know some super secret HTML. Nope, my code was right the whole time.

Now I can actually space poems the way they look when I write them in Notepad and not have everything aligned to the right.

Facelift

Thursday May 31, 2007

I’m going to give this site a facelift soon and hope that it helps my blasé affair with it. The focus will (re?)shift to poetry. Secondary creative categories would be short stories or possibly the Alien Thoughts (which I had a bit of fun with, but may have lost the muse).

I don’t think I’ll delete the old stuff that I don’t want, but the categories will get dropped. I want to clean house a bit; I’m just a bit too infatuated with posterity.

So whenever I get some free time I’m going to nuke the main page and About tab to reflect the changes. Then I’ll probably shotgun blast (that means post back to back) a half dozen or more poems I have.

If I have anything to say that falls out of bounds to the main concept I may create a separate blog for that. I’ll keep you posted on how things are going.
